About Eddie

For years I was an accountant. Respectable, reliable, and quietly unfulfilling. I'd look at paintings and think to myself — I can do better than that. I said it so often that my mother-in-law eventually got tired of hearing it and bought me a set of watercolours to prove it.

That was 15 years ago. I never looked back.

I'm entirely self-taught, based in Norwich, and I've been painting animals in watercolour ever since. My love of animals runs deep — my mother was an avid dog lover, and my grandfather was a farmer. Every school holiday was spent on his farm, surrounded by dogs, livestock and wide open countryside. That's where my eye for animals was really trained. Not in an art school, but in muddy fields learning to observe the way an animal holds itself, the set of its ears, the personality behind its eyes.

I don't own dogs myself — my son is allergic — but animals have been part of my life since I can remember, and that connection comes through in every painting I make.

I work very freely in watercolour, with the minimum of compositional drawing. I want my paintings to feel alive and unpremeditated — capturing not just the likeness of an animal, but its character. As I always say — it's all in the eyes.

Today my work is loved by thousands of customers across the UK, USA and worldwide — with over 1,400 five star reviews and a growing family of collectors who return again and again. I paint over 70 dog breeds, wildlife, game birds, garden birds and farm animals — available as original paintings, prints, mugs, cards and gifts.

And if you'd like your own pet painted — I'd love to hear from you.
